Roseau is the capital and largest city of Dominica. With a population of 14,847 (2001 census), it is a small and compact urban settlement, located within the Saint George parish and surrounded by the Caribbean Sea, the Roseau River and Morne Bruce. Built on the site of the ancient Kalinago Indian village of Sairi, it is the oldest and most important urban settlement on the island. It is located on the west (leeward) coast of Dominica, and is a combination of modern and colonial (French Style) architecture. Roseau is Dominica's most important port for foreign trade. Some exports include bananas, bay oil, vegetables, grapefruit, oranges and cocoa. The service sector is also a large part of the local economy.
Ocean Varadero El Patriarca, Cuba
Hey Elizabeth! The resort is beautiful, modern and really clean. With the food there wasn't much variety. Basically the same thing every single night and even the 2 times we did go to the a la carte restaurants we weren't impressed. The chefs really need some more training unfortunately. Another really bad thing was the pool. Tiles are popping off everywhere!! The weather was great however. We only had rain twice and that was over night. The wind was a bit strong but it helped cool us down for the scorching heat. The staff is wonderful as well except for the woman in sports bar who would make bad comments about everybody that walked up to the bar!! She thinks that non-Spanish people don't understand Spanish I guess. I actually made a complaint about her in my review cause I was so disgusted with her behaviour....very unprofessional. All in all it was a good vacation. The resort, beach, weather was beautiful.....the rest are just details that in the end don't really matter.
